CAMP KUDOS- Kids Understanding Diabetes With Our Support
Founded by Dr. Mark Parker, Pediatric Endocrinologist, to provide a fun, safe and educational environment for children with Type 1 Diabetes in a day-camp setting spanning 3 days. Home Base is located at Pleasant Knoll Middle School, Fort Mill, SC
Camp KUDOS hosts 110 children with type 1 diabetes, ages 4 years old through the 12th grade. Our campers have special understanding of what it means to live with T1D and know that they are not alone in what it takes to stay healthy. They encourage each other at camp through fun and positivity. We even celebrate diabetes “firsts” together — such as placing a pump or CGM site without help from a parent! Our older campers become incredible mentors and role models for our youngest campers. This is one of the only places where nearly everyone has T1D, and those who don’t are a rarity.
